A GLIMPSE IN TO WHAT MADE ME PAUL HEATH BECOME A TAXIDERMIST
Why do Corvids fascinate me , The answers in the description somewhere.
I do what I do because birds and animals have always been part of my life When I am asked why I do Taxidermy One simple reply is 'it isn't just a hobby now it's my life Getting back to how I became a Taxidermist I had an interest as far back as my early school days in natural history , I have a memory of being in Wales , I was with my parents on a day out visiting like a big estate a stately home Where I showed an interest in the Taxidermy specimens there on display I was asked if I wanted to see the freezers to my amazement I see things like lions in the freezer back then not many people liked this sort of thing To me I was amazed I was asked if I will like to stay over the School holidays and learn and understand more To this day I regret not taking that Taxidermist up on the offer Please don't think I have always had a morbid fascination with working with dead birds and animals I haven't
I have always had pets in my life and always had an interest and fascination with nature I have had Some quite unusual pets in my time, I was quite friendly with my local zoo owner When I was young I was always there I think that's where My fascination with corvids the crow family came about there I meet a talking magpie many an hour I spent there I had a pet crow at a very young age to Then there was my first bird of prey a Barn Owl, followed by a Kestrel I trained
I will skip to this present day or I fear I am rambling on I have talking Raven birds I am lucky enough to have now and fly are dark phase Gyrfalcon an imprint Peregrine falcon and a imprint Full finish goshawk
Ok getting back to how I became a Taxidermist I was a collector of Taxidermy and then one day I was working as a lorry driver I had a severe Heart attack some time after a close friend of mine Lee Yafano suggested why don't I try doing some taxidermy he taught me the process I never expected it to go this far from a little work shop in my shed to a fairly large unit on a business park I didn't ever think this could become a business
I have progressed this far with thanks to Lee yafano starting me off on this path, My Customers without them I could never have afforded to do what I do and love, I really can't thank them enough for there support! A couple of others others I feel I should mention, Kim mcdonald of UK taxidermy law, John Hallet , I thank them for there support and advise.
